The world's largest tantalum material processing plant went into operation, and the Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone became the first domestic industrial base for electronic-grade ultra-high-purity tantalum materials.

Tantalum is an important national strategic resource and a key material indispensable in the manufacturing of ultra-large-scale integrated circuits. The global technology of ultra-high purity tantalum for high-end chip manufacturing is monopolized by two companies in the United States and Japan, and China is completely dependent on imports.

On November 8, the production ceremony of ultra-high-purity tantalum for ultra-large-scale integrated circuit manufacturing was held in the production area of electron beam furnace of Tongchuang (Lishui) Special Materials Co.

WeChat public number "Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone" news pointed out that with the successful "ignition of the first equipment with completely independent intellectual property rights", Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone has also become the first electronic grade ultra-high purity tantalum material industrial base in China. The project will be completed by the end of 2012.

According to Ye Tianchun, technical director of the National Science and Technology Major Project "Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit Manufacturing Equipment and Complete Process", this scale should be the largest tantalum material processing plant in the world, which is of great significance to the domestic semiconductor basic raw material industry.
