What is tungsten-copper alloy?

Tungsten-copper alloy is also called copper-tungsten alloy, which consists of tungsten and copper. Tungsten-copper alloy is made of fine tungsten and copper powder by powder sintering. Tungsten-copper alloy combines the characteristics of high density, high hardness and high wear resistance of tungsten with the characteristics of electrical conductivity of copper.

Properties of tungsten-copper alloys

The tungsten-copper alloy consists of 10 to 50 percent copper and the rest of the alloy is tungsten. The properties of tungsten-copper alloy are closely related to the composition. The lower the content of copper, the higher the density, hardness and resistivity of tungsten-copper alloy. Tungsten has a density of 19.34g/cm3. The density of CuW90 and CuW50 is 16.75g/cm3 and 11.85g/cm3 respectively. The density, hardness and resistivity of CuW90 are higher than those of CuW50.

Combining the advantages of tungsten and copper, tungsten copper alloy is widely used in military high temperature resistant materials, high pressure switch alloys, electromachining electrodes and microelectronics materials. As parts and components, it is widely used in aviation, aerospace, electronics, electric power, metallurgy, machinery, sports equipment and other industries.


Uses of tungsten-copper alloys

Tungsten copper alloy can be made into high temperature resistance, low expansion coefficient, high electrical and thermal conductivity of the material. Tungsten-copper alloys are used in rocket engines and electronics. Tungsten-copper alloys are also used in aerospace applications. Electrodes, electronic packages, rocket parts and electrical contact materials are all made of tungsten-copper alloys. Tungsten-copper alloys can also be processed into tubes and sheets.

Tungsten-copper alloy electronic packages can be used in computer chips and integrated circuits to play the role of heat exchange, to prevent high temperature damage to electronic devices. According to different electronic devices, tungsten copper tungsten alloy electronic package can be machined into different sizes and shapes. The copper content of tungsten-copper alloy electronic package is 15%~20%.
