International Semiconductor Industry Association: Global Semiconductor Equipment Shipments Hit A New High in The Second Quarter

SEMI (International Semiconductor Industry Association) recently released the latest global semiconductor equipment shipment report and pointed out that in the second quarter of this year, the global semiconductor equipment shipment value reached 26.43 billion US dollars, an increase of 6% year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 7%, reaching a new record high.

Among them, Taiwan, China, has become the largest market under the vigorous expansion of TSMC, with semiconductor equipment shipments reaching US$6.68 billion, a growth rate of more than 30%. Mainland China fell by 20% year-on-year, with shipments of US$6.56 billion, ranking second in the region. The Korean market shipped US$5.78 billion, down 13% year-on-year. The European market was the leading performer, with a year-on-year growth of 162%, but the overall size is still small.

Although the semiconductor industry has encountered severe inventory pressure since the second half of the year, and the demand for consumer semiconductors is very weak, major manufacturers such as TSMC, UMC, and Intel are still actively expanding production. SEMI is optimistic about the annual semiconductor equipment market, which is expected to exceed the $100 billion mark.

At the beginning of this year, SEMI forecast data that this year's semiconductor equipment shipments will increase by 10%, reaching 98 billion US dollars.
