Introduction to tungsten Nickel-iron alloy materials

Tungsten Ni-Fe alloy is an alloy composed of tungsten matrix with a small amount of nickel, iron and other alloying elements. It has the following characteristics: high density (~18.8g/cm3) and adjustable, strong ability to absorb high-energy rays (ray absorption coefficient is 1/3 higher than that of lead), low thermal expansion coefficient (4~6×10-6/℃), good plasticity, high strength and elastic modulus, machining, welding and so on. Widely used in ray protection and guidance, industrial counterweight parts, safety and defense parts and so on.

TUNGSTEN RADIATION SHIELDING PARTS

Tungsten-nickel-iron alloy properties:

- Specific weight: ~18.8g/cm3 high density

High strength: tensile strength of 700-1000Mpa;

- Strong ray shielding ability: under the same thickness condition, the ray shielding ability of tungsten alloy is more than 1.7 times that of lead, when the stronger the ray, the difference between the two ray shielding ability is more obvious;

High thermal conductivity: the thermal conductivity of tungsten alloy is 5 times that of die steel;

- Small thermal expansion coefficient: tungsten thermal expansion coefficient 4~6×10-6/℃, only iron or steel 1/2-1/3;

-- Good shaping, machinability and weldability;

- Compared with the toxicity of lead, tungsten alloy material has environmental protection characteristics. It is not harmful to human safety when making radiation detectors with tungsten alloy shielding parts;

- Compared with tungsten-nickel-copper alloy, tungsten-nickel-iron alloy has certain ferromagnetism, and its mechanical properties and machining properties are better than those of tungsten-nickel-copper alloy.

Product Application

Ray protection and guidance: Due to its high density (~18.8g/cm3), excellent X-ray and gamma-ray absorption capacity, and excellent processability, tungstenel-ferro alloy is an ideal material for radiation therapy collimators and protective components. Our tungsten nickel alloy materials are widely used in various kinds of CT, linear accelerator, PET, γ cameras and other equipment, as well as radiation, nuclear medicine and other fields, can provide excellent ray protection and beam guidance, of course, we not only provide raw materials and finished parts, but also provide a full range of solutions.

Industrial counterweight components: Tungsten-nickel alloy counterweight components are key components in many different applications. They compensate for swing, weight transfer, imbalance and vibration, and form or change the center of gravity to ensure excellent balance. Applications include aerospace, automotive, sports equipment, oil and gas drilling, gas turbine counterweights and precision optical instruments.

Security and defense components: in modern war, the main attack targets are tank armor, strong fortifications and protected fighters. In order to obtain deadly attack effect, materials with high density, high storage speed, strong penetration ability and high performance are indispensable. Tungsten-based materials with high proportion can fully meet these needs, and are indispensable materials in the field of national defense and security.

Nuclear power and energy components: The tungsten based high-specific gravity alloy produced by our company is used in the main pump of the cooling system for generation 3 + nuclear power plants. Due to its high density and performance, it is installed as the inertial flywheel in the main pump of the nuclear power cooling system after precision machining, so as to ensure that the main pump system can continue to work and cool the nuclear power plant to avoid accidents when the power is suddenly cut off.

Aerospace components: Tungsten nickel alloy with high temperature strength and erosion and ablative resistance properties, widely used in aerospace components.

Production process

Using powder metallurgy process and in strict accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards to complete the production of tungsten-nickel alloy at all stages, the products fully meet the specifications and requirements of AMS-T-21014 and ASTM-B-777-99 (MIL-T-21014).

Using isostatic molding technology can produce a variety of high specific gravity alloy large, special-shaped parts, using extrusion, molding, injection molding technology can produce a variety of small products, using forging, extrusion, rolling technology can produce a variety of processed plates, rods and other parts, can provide a variety of brands of high density alloy for domestic and foreign users.

As a general application, such as counterweight, balance hammer, radiation shielding device, etc., are directly used sintered alloy; However, for applications requiring high mechanical properties, tungsten-nickel-iron alloys require deformation processing and vacuum heat treatment to achieve strengthening.
