The Role of Crucibles
A crucible is a cup-shaped vessel used in the laboratory to heat solids at high temperatures. The raw materials used in the production of crucibles can be summarized into three main types. One is crystalline natural graphite, the other is malleable refractory clay, and the third is calcined hard kaolin-like skeleton clinker. Since 2008, high-temperature resistant synthetic materials such as silicon carbide, alumina, adamantine and ferrosilicon have been used as skeleton clinker for crucibles. This clinker has a significant effect on improving the crucible product quality and enhancing the crucible density and mechanical strength.
The role of crucible.
1. The crucible is an important medium for the effective transmission of energy dan the induction coil liquid, i.e. it ensures the basic conditions for the conversion of electromagnetic field energy into heat energy and the realization of metal smelting.
2. Crucible plays the role of insulation between the induction line and the steel liquid and the steel liquid.
3. The crucible is subjected to various stresses such as gravity, thermal stress and electromagnetic force of the furnace charge or steel.
4. Crucible plays the role of heat insulation to heat, reduce the heat loss, so that the temperature of smelting process such as melting and refining steel can be guaranteed on and the smelting torch can be carried out smoothly
5. The crucible withstands the chemical erosion of high temperature steel and high temperature molten pool, and keeps good stability to provide a stable space for smelting.
