The evaporated material is directly heated with an electron beam under a vacuum, and the evaporated material is transported to the substrate to form a thin film. Electron beam evaporation can deposit high-precision thin films. Water cooling of the electron beam gun crucible strictly limits electron beam heating to only the area occupied by the source material, thus eliminating any unwanted contamination of adjacent components.
